F. G. Barry of West Point, was born at Woodbury, Tennessee on 15 January 1845. As a young school boy he enlisted in the Confederate army. After the war he studied law and was admitted to the bar. He was elected to the State senate, and served from 1875 to 1879. He was a Democratic elector for the state in 1880, and in 1884 was elected to the Forty-ninth Congress, serving until 1889.
